호주 의대진학/ GAMSAT 준비하기 _ 얼마나 공부해야하고, 어떤 식으로 진행해야할까?

GAMSAT 이야기 오랜만에 쓰게 된다 

일단 절대로 쉬운 시험이 아니다 

호주에서 태어나도 한국과 마찬가지로 

높은 내신을 유지해야하고, 

학교에서 아주 상위 성적에 랭크되어야 

의대 진학에 가능성이 있다. 

 

의대를 또는 의전을 진학하는데 있어서 

꼭 고려해야하는 것들이 몇가지 있는데 

내신 성적과 면접 등등 생각보다 단순하지 않다. 

 

굳이 입학이 어느쪽이 어렵냐고 따지면 

자국민이 의대에 입학하는게 조금 더 어렵다. 

성적을 잘 유지해야 하기 때문에 그렇다. 

반면에 외국인 전형의 경우에는 다양한 입학 경로가 있어서 

오히려 쉽다고 하긴 그렇지만 가능성이 조금 더 높다. 

 

아아... 글이 길어질 것만 같은 불안함-ㅅ- ... 

뭐 암튼 계속 적어보면, 

예를 들어 멜번대의 경우에, 

정해진 대학과정을 '멜번대'에서 이수한 학생에 한해서 

멜번 의전입학을 순서대로 부여한다. 

사실 금지는 아니지만 멜번대에서 학사를 이수한 것이 

아니라면, 의전 입학은 어렵다. 

모든 대학교가 그런 것은 아니지만 호주 상위 10위내 

대학교라면 그렇다고 생각하는 것이 좋다. 

그래서 많은 경우에 호주에서 학사부터 다시 시작하게된다. 

그렇다면 학사 입학은 쉬운가? 

그렇지 않다. 

영어실력이 된다면? 

비교적 쉽다. 

필요한 영어실력은 표면적으로는 Ielts 7.0 정도지만 

실제로는 8.0-8.5 수준은 되어야 수업을 따라갈수 있을 정도다. 

PTE는 논외다. 외워서 하는 시험이기 때문에 

점수가 높은 거랑 영어 실력이랑 아무 상관이 없다.

gamsat을 준비하는데 얼마나 필요할까? 

어차피 의대 또는 의전을 준비하는 사람들이 볼 글이기 때문에 

굳이 해석해서 달지 않겠다. 

이 정도 글 한글 처럼 읽어도 희망이 있을까 말까다...

좋은 말만 해주기에는 현실적인 글도 있어야 할 꺼 같아서 적는 것이다. 

 

1. There is a lot of material to cover and you will need sufficient time to review it all adequately. Creating a study schedule is often effective. Starting early will reduce your stress level in the weeks leading up to the exam and may make your studying easier. Depending on your English skills and the quality of your science background, a good rule of thumb is : 3-6 hours/day of study for 3-6 months. 

 

2. Section 1 & 2 preparation : For section 1, you should be sure to understand each and every mistake you make as to ensure there will be improvement. For section 2, you should have someone who has good writing skills read, correct, and comment on your essays. 

 

3. Section 3 &  4 preparation : Study devery topic that you are responsible for in the Biological and Physical sciences, as evidenced by past testing patterns, it is vital to cover as much as possible. Please do not memorising, rather understand. 

 

Most important three factors to remeber when it comes to solving problems. 

 

1. What is this passage about (what is the topic)? 

2. What is the most important things the author says about the topic (what is the main idea)? 

3. Do all of the other ideas in the passage support this main idea?

Passage: 

For most immigrants, the journey to America was long and often full of hardships and suffering. The immigrants often walked the entire distance from their villages to the nearest seaport. There the ships might be delayed and precious time and money lost. Sometimes ticket agents or ship capitains fleeced the immigrants of all they owned. 

 

Q1. The most important idea in this paragraph is: _____________

A. immigrants had to walk long distances to get to seaports. 

B. ship schedules were very irregular. 

C. ship captains often stole all the possessions of immigrants. 

D. the journey of immigrants to America was very difficult and often painful. 

 

Q2 What is the passage about? 

Q3 What is the most important thing the author says about the topic? 

Q4 Do all of the other ideas in the passage support this main idea?

사실 이 정도는 수능정도도 안되는 엄청 쉬운 수준의 영어인데, 

문제는 수능의 지문을 한글처럼 읽고 이해하고 하는 것이 아니라 

문제풀이 능력으로 풀어내는 방식을 많이 이용하기 때문에 

단순한 '풀이능력'은 gamsat 이 통하지 않는다.
