Fixing Macbook air a1465 2014 myself...it fixed lol

Update, March 2024

For some reason, it worked and fixed itself.
I didn't really do anything; I pressed the power button, long-pressed 'option', selected internet recovery, and it fixed itself lol.

BUT, the keyboard and trackpad are not working 😂

I tried everything based on internet information I could possibly find, but it's not fixed.
So, I've successfully downloaded and installed my MacOS but need to connect to Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I will update again if anything changes lmao

 

Sudden shut down while instal the new OS by USB

It started with a quite sad story but yeah, I bought second hand Macbook air 2014 from gumtree seller. 

It seems legit, as I tested and the cover was clean, almost a new like. 

Thing is that I didn't know that it was just the 'cover' 

Well, long story short, it was water damaged, wait, I will make it clear that it was soft drink damaged macbook. 

I brought into the apple store but they said it was quite serious that not worths to invest on repair. 

it was around $700 or something. so! I contacted the seller but of course! he ignored, and disappears. 

I shoved it in my garage for years and forgot. 

 

After a few years, I decided to just start the computer, just for fun. 

Surprisingly, it works perfectly omg I was like, wow did I just dig hundreds of dollars of out my garage!? 

How excited... but well, it shut down again. 

 

So, after long waste of time, research and the tedious reading, I figured that it is SMC IC chip issue. 

I opened the mac, and clean as much as possible but it still the same. 

I made clean boot USB even but the problem is still the shut down.

 

I will share a little bit of infos here anyway. 

If your mac has OS, simply reset by some steps. 

 

SMC reset : Shift+Control+Option+Power (Hold them all together until you hear second chim, and release them all) 

PRreset : Option+Command+P+R+Power (Hold them all together and release them when you hear the chim) 

Spend at least 7-10 second when you hold the buttons, 

If you wanna use USB to boot a new OS system, press Option and hold right after press the Power to open the computer) 

 

At this point, I don't know what more I can do,

This is my fourth time that I opened my Macbook air lol I'm thinking to trying soldering at this point. Well, it is broken anyway.. what more to lose ..?
